Become a Campus Coach
A consistent, supportive relationship can make a meaningful difference in a student’s experience at UMD.
Campus Coaches are UMD faculty and staff members who provide one-on-one mentoring and support to students in Fostering Terp Success. Coaches help students navigate the university, work through challenges, recognize their strengths, build connections, and develop the confidence to advocate for themselves.
Campus Coaches commit to:
- Attend a one-day training program.
- Meet with their student at least once each month, in person or virtually.
- Connect with their student by email, text, or phone at least twice each month.
- Serve as a consistent, supportive adult for at least one year—and, when possible, throughout the student’s time at UMD.
- Participate in occasional Fostering Terp Success social events.
- Attend at least one Campus Coach meeting or Lunch & Learn each semester.
